أَعْلَنَ مَعْهَد ٱلتَّصْدِير ٱلْإِسْرَائِيلِيّ أَمْس أَنَّ ٱرْتِفَاعًا بِنِسْبَةِ خَمْسٌ وَثَلَاثُون فِي ٱلْمِئَة طَرَأَ فِي ٱلرُّبْع ٱلْأَوَّل مِن هٰذَا ٱلْعَام عَلَى حَجْم صَادِرَات ٱلْمُنْتَجَات ٱلْإِسْرَائِيلِيَّة إِلَى ٱلدُّوَل ٱلْعَرَبِيَّة، مُقَارَنَةً بِٱلْفَتْرَةِ ذَاتِهَا مِن ٱلْعَام ٱلْمَاضِي، فَبَلَغَ سَبْعٌ وَخَمْسُون مِلْيُون دُولَار. وَأَضَافَ ٱلْمَعْهَد أَنَّ ٱلْمَبْلَغ ٱلْمَذْكُور لا يَشْمَلُ ٱلتَّصْدِير ٱلْإِسْرَائِيلِيّ إِلَى ٱلسُّلْطَةِ ٱلْفِلَسْطِينِيَّة أَوْ إِلَى دُوَلٍ عَرَبِيَّةٍ عَبْرَ طَرَفٍ ثَالِث. وَأَشَار إِلَى أَنَّ ٱلتَّصْدِير إِلَى مِصْر، خُصُوصًا فِي مَجَالَي ٱلنَّسِيج وَٱلْكِيمَاوِيَات، اِرْتَفَعَ فِي ٱلْأَشْهُر ٱلثَّلَاثَة مِن هٰذَا ٱلْعَام بِنِسْبَةِ مِئَةٌ وَثَمَانٌ وَأَرْبَعُون فِي ٱلْمِئَة وَبَلَغَ سِتٌّ وَعِشْرُون فَاصِل خَمْس مِلْيُون دُولَار.
The Israeli Export Institute announced yesterday that a rise of thirty five percent occurred in the first quarter of this year in the volume of exports of Israeli products to Arabic countries compared to the same period of last year as it reached fifty seven million dollars. The Institute added that the aforementioned amount does not include Israeli exports to the Palestinian Authority or to Arabic countries via third parties. And it indicated that the exports to Egypt specifically in the fields of textiles and chemicals rose in the three months of this year by one hundred and forty eight percent as it reached twenty six point five million dollars.
مُصْطَلَح أَهْل ٱلذِّمَّة مِن ٱلْقَضَايَا ٱلَّتِي تُثِيرُ جَدَلًا بَيْن ٱلْمُسْلِمِين وَأَهْل ٱلْكُتُب ٱلسَّمَاوِيَّةِ ٱلْأُخْرَى، فَٱلْأَقْبَاط فِي مِصْر عَلَى سَبِيل ٱلْمِثَال يَرَون أَنَّ مَفْهُوم أَهْل ٱلذِّمَّة فِيهِ اِنْتِقَاصٌ مِن قَدْرِهِم وَمَكَانَتِهِم وَيَفْرِضُ وِصَايَةَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ عَلَيْهِم وَكَأَنُّهُم رَعَايَا وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّ هٰذَا ٱلْمَفْهُوم يَتَعَارَضُ مَعَ حُقُوق ٱلْمُوَاطَنَةِ وَيَتَضَمَّن تَمْيِيزًا وَتَفْرِقَةً بَيْن ٱلْمِصْرِيِين عَلَى أَسَاس ٱلدِّين، فِي حِين يَرَى ٱلْمُسْلِمُون أَنَّ هٰذَا ٱلْمَفْهُوم لا يَتَضَمَّنُ فِي مَعْنَاه كُلَّ هٰذِهِ ٱلْاِتِّهَامَات، وَهُوَ يُسْتَخْدَمُ فَقَط لِلْإِشَارَةِ إِلَى أَهْل ٱلْأَدْيَان ٱلسَّمَاوِيَّةِ ٱلْأُخْرَى ٱلْمَسِيحِيَّةِ وَٱلْيَهُودِيَّة.
The term the people of protection is among the issues which causes argument between Muslims and people of the other heavenly [revealed] books. The Copts in Egypt for example see that the concept of the people of protection includes a lessening of their value and their position and imposes the guardianship of the Muslims on them as though they are subjects and they say that this concept is incompatible with the rights of citizenship and includes a distinction and differentiation between Egyptians on the basis of religion whereas Muslims see that this concept does not include in its meaning all these accusations and it is used only to indicate the people of the other heavenly [revealed] religions - the Christian and the Jewish.
لِمَاذَا تَتَآمَرُ بَعْض ٱلدُّوَل ٱلْعَرَبِيَّة عَلَى ٱلْحُكُومَةِ ٱلْفِلَسْطِينِيَّة بِقِيَادَةِ حَمَاس دُونَ خَجَلٍ أَوْ وَجَل لِصَالِح إِسْرَائِيل؟ أَلَمْ يَنْتَخِبُهَا ٱلشَّعْب ٱلْفِلَسْطِينِيّ بِشِيبِهِ وَشَبَابِه؟ أَلَمْ يَرْفُضُ ٱلنِّظَام ٱلْمَغْرِبِيّ مَنْح تَأْشِيرَات دُخُول لِمَسْؤُولِين مِن حَمَاس؟ أَلَمْ يُلَفِّقُ ٱلنِّظَام ٱلْأُرْدُنِّي تُهَمًا لِلْحَرَكَة بِتَهْرِيب أَسْلِحَةٍ إِلَى ٱلْأُرْدُنّ لِٱبْتِزَازِهَا وَمُحَاصَرَتِهَا؟ يَتَسَاءَل آخَر، أَلَمْ يَتَحَجَّجُ وَزِير ٱلْخَارِجِيَّةِ ٱلْمِصْرِيّ بِعَدَم وُجُود ٱلْوَقْت لَدَيه لِٱسْتِقْبَال وَزِير ٱلْخَارِجِيَّةِ ٱلْفِلَسْطِينِيّ؟ يُضِيفُ آخَر، لِمَاذَا يَهْرَعُ ٱلنِّظَام ٱلْمِصْرِيّ لِتَرْتِيب مُؤْتَمَرَات فِي شَرْم اَلشَّيْخ عَلَى عَجَل عِنْدَمَا تَكُونُ إِسْرَائِيل فِي وَرْطَة وَلا يَفْعَلُ ٱلشَّيْء ذَاتَه لِلْفِلَسْطِينِيِين ٱلْمُحَاصَرِين ٱلَّذِينَ لا يَجِدُونَ مَا يَسُدُّ رَمَقَهُم؟
Why do some Arabic countries plot against the Palestinian Government led by Hamas without shame or fear to the benefit of Israel? Didnt the Palestinian people old and young elect them [the Government]? Didnt the Moroccan regime refuse to grant entry visas to officials from Hamas? Didnt the Jordanian regime fabricate accusations against the Movement [Hamas] of smuggling weapons into Jordan to blackmail it [Hamas] and besiege it [Hamas]? Another asks: Didnt the Egyptian foreign minister come up with the excuse that he had no time to meet the Palestinian foreign minister? Another adds: Why does the Egyptian regime rush to arrange conferences in Sharm El-Sheikh rapidly whenever Israel is in trouble and doesnt do the same thing for the besieged Palestinians who cant find something to allay their hunger?
أَلَيْسَ مِن ٱلْمَهْزَلَةِ وَٱلْوَقَاحَة أَنْ تُصْبِح دُوَلٌ عَرَبِيَّة تَتَرَبَّعُ عَلَى عَرْش اِنْتِهَاكَات حُقُوق ٱلْإِنْسَان مِثْلَ ٱلْجَزَائِر وَٱلسُّعُودِيَّة وَتُونُس وَٱلْمَغْرِب وَٱلْأُرْدُنّ وَٱلْبَحْرَيْن أَعْضَاء فِي ٱلْمَجْلِس ٱلدَّوْلِيّ ٱلْجَدِيد لِحُقُوق ٱلْإِنْسَان؟ أَلَيْسَتْ نُكْتَةٌ سَمِجَة بِٱمْتِيَاز؟ لِمَاذَا يُسْمَح لِلْجَزَّارِين وَٱلْجَلَّادِين ٱلْعَرَب أَنْ يَحْظُوا بِشَرَف ٱلْعُضْوِيَة فِي هَيْئَات حُقُوقِيَّةٍ عَالَمِيَّة؟ مَتَى كَانَتْ ٱلذِّئَاب حَنُونَةً عَلَى ٱلْقَطِيع؟ أَلَمْ يَفْقِد ٱلْمَجْلِس ٱلْجَدِيد مِصْدَاقِيَتَه وَٱحْتِرَامَه فَوْرَ قُبُولَهِ دُوَلًا عَرَبِيَّةً فِي عُضْوِيَتِه؟ أَلَمْ تَكُن مُنَظَّمَات حُقُوق ٱلْإِنْسَان ٱلْعَرَبِيَّة وَٱلدَّوْلِيَّة عَلَى حَقّ عِنْدَمَا طَالَبَتْ بِرَفْض عُضْوِيَةِ ٱلدُّوَل ٱلْعَرَبِيَّةِ فِي ٱلْمَجْلِس ٱلْجَدِيد؟
Is it not a farce and a cheek/an affront that Arabic states which sit on the throne of the violations of human rights such as Algeria and Saudi and Tunisia and Morocco and Jordan and Bahrain have become members in the new International Council for Human Rights? Is it not a really bad/distasteful joke? Why has it been allowed for the Arab butchers and torturers to attain the honour of membership in global juristic organisations? When were the wolves compassionate towards the flock? Didnt the new council lose its credibility and its respect after its acceptance of Arabic countries among its membership? Were they not - the Arabic and international human rights organisations - right when they demanded the refusal of membership of the Arabic countries in the new council?
لِمَاذَا تَتَسَارَعُ وَتِيرَةُ تَأْمِيم ٱلثَّرَوَات ٱلْوَطَنِيَّة وَٱلْحِفَاظ عَلَيْهَا فِي أَمِيرِكَا ٱللَّاتِينِيَّة بَيْنَمَا تَسْتَبَاح ٱلثَّرَوَات ٱلْعَرَبِيَّة وَتُصْبِحُ نَهْبًا لِلشَّرِكَات ٱلْأَجْنَبِيَّة؟ أَلَيْس هُنَاكَ حُكُومَات عَرَبِيَّةً مُسْتَعِدَّة أَنْ تُرْهِنُ ثَرَوَات ٱلْأَوْطَان وَتُتَاجِرُ بِهَا لِمُجَرَّدِ أَنْ تَبْقَى فِي عُرُوشِهَا؟ بَيْنَمَا تَزْدَاد حِدَّةُ ٱلْفَقْر وَٱلْبَطَالَةِ فِي بِلادِنَا؟ لِمَاذَا لا تَحْذُو ٱلدُّوَل ٱلْعَرَبِيَّةُ حَذْو بُولِيفِيَا ٱلَّتِي أَمَّمَتْ ٱلنَّفْط وَٱلْغَاز رَغْمًا عَن أَنْف ٱلشَّرِكَات ٱلْأَمِيرِكِيَةِ وَٱلْأُورُوبِّيَة؟ مَنْ قَالَ إِنّ عَصْر مُصَدِّق وَعَبْد ٱلنَّاصِر قَد وَلَّى؟ هَلْ تَسْهَرُ حُكُومَاتُنَا عَلَى حِمَايَةِ ثَرَوَاتِنَا أَمْ يُسَمْسِرُ بَعْضُهَا عَلَيْهَا وَيَتَوَاطَأ لِنَهْبِهَا وَتَبْذِيرِهَا؟
Why is the pace of nationalisation of national resources and the protection of them accelerating in Latin America while Arab resources are seized to become the plunder of foreign companies? Are there not Arabic governments ready to pawn the nations resources and trade them just to stay on their thrones? While the acuteness of poverty and unemployment increases in our countries? Why dont the Arabic countries follow Bolivias example which nationalised oil and gas in defiance of American and European companies? Who said that the era of Musaddiq and Abdu ~l-Nasser had gone? Will our governments watch over the protection of our resources or will some of them act as a middleman for them and conspire to plunder them and squander them?
أَعْلَنَ رَئِيس ٱلْوُزَرَاء ٱلْعِرَاقِيّ نُورِي اَلْمَالِكِيّ أَمْس حَال ٱلطَّوَارِئ فِي مَدِينَةِ ٱلْبَصْرَة لِمُدَّةِ شَهْر. وَنَقَلَ ٱلتِّلِفِزْيُون ٱلْعِرَاقِيّ ٱلرَّسْمِيّ «اَلْعِرَاقِيَّة» عَن اَلْمَالِكِيّ قَوْلَه «لَقَد أَعْلَنَّا عَن اِسْتِنْفَارٍ أَمْنِيٍّ وَاسِع لِمُدَّةِ شَهْر وَنَأْمُل مِن ٱلْحِوَارَات مَعَ مُخْتَلِف مُكَوِّنَات ٱلشَّعْب بِٱلْبَصْرَة مِن اِنْجَاح خُطَّةٍ مِن أَجْلِ تَطْوِيق ٱلْأَزْمَةِ فِي ٱلْمُحَافَظَة». وَفِي وَقْتٍ سَابِقٍ أَمْس قَالَ اَلْمَالِكِيّ لِجَمْعٍ مِن مُمَثِّلِيّ أَهْل ٱلْبَصْرَة، إِنَّ بَال ٱلْحُكُومَة لَنْ يَسْتَقِرّ مَا لَمْ تَسْتَقِرّ ٱلْمَدِينَة اَلَّتِي تَجْتَاحُهَا مُنْذُ أَسَابِيع مَوْجَةُ اِغْتِيَالَات وَأَعْمَال قَتْل. وَتَوَعَّدَ اَلْمَالِكِيّ ٱلْعِصَابَات وَٱلْمُتَلَاعِبِين بِأَمْن ٱلْبَصْرَة بِضَرْبِهِم «بِيَدٍ مِن حَدِيد».
The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki announced yesterday a state of emergency in the city of Basra for a period of a month. The official Iraqi television Al-Iraqiya quoted Al-Malikis remark we have announced a wide security alert for a period of a month and we hope from talks with different constituents of the people of Basra for the success of the plan in order to contain [lit. collar] the crisis in the governorate. And previously yesterday Al-Maliki said to a group of representatives of the people of Baghdad that the mind of the government will not settle as long as the city which for weeks has been swept by a wave of assassinations and acts of murder remains unsettled. And Al-Maliki threatened the gangs and the meddlers with Basras security with being struck by an iron hand.
بَعْدَ نَحْوِ ثَلَاث سَنَوَات مِن مُلَاحَقَتِهَا لِأَبِي مُصْعَب اَلزَّرْقَاوِيّ فِي ٱلْعِرَاق وَتَخْصِيصِهَا خَمْس وَعِشْرُون مِلْيُون دُولَار مُكَافَأَةً نَظِيرَ مَعْلَومَاتٍ تُؤَدِّي لِٱعْتِقَالِهِ أَوْ قَتْلِه، اِهْتَدَتْ ٱلْقُوَّات ٱلْأَمِيرِكِيَة بِمُشَارَكَةٍ عِرَاقِيَّة إِلَى ٱلْمُتَشَدِّد ٱلْأُرْدُنِّي وَأَسْقَطَتْ قُنْبُلَتَيْن عَلَى مَخْبَئِهِ فِي مَنْزِلٍ مَعْزُول بِرِيف بَعْقُوبَة شَمَال شَرْقِيّ بَغْدَاد أَوَّل مِن أَمْس وَقَتَلَتْهُ مَعَ مَجْمُوعَةٍ مِن أَتْبَاعِه بَيْنَهُم مُرْشِدَهُ ٱلرُّوحِيّ، اَلَّذِي وَرَدَ أَنَّهُ قَادَ ٱلْأَمِيرِكِيِّين إِلَيْه. وَأَعْلَنَ رَئِيس ٱلْوُزَرَاء ٱلْعِرَاقِيّ نُورِي اَلْمَالِكِيّ عَن مَقْتَل اَلزَّرْقَاوِيّ فِي مُؤْتَمَرٍ صَحَافِيّ بِحُضُور ٱلسَّفِير ٱلْأَمِيرِكِي فِي ٱلْعِرَاق زَلْمَاي خَلِيلْزَاد، وَٱلْقَائِد ٱلْأَمِيرِكِي فِي ٱلْعِرَاق ٱلْجَنَرَال جُورْج كَيْسِي.
After around three years of their chasing Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi in Iraq and their allocation of a twenty five million dollar reward for information leading to his capture or death the American forces with Iraqi participation were led to the Jordanian hardliner/militant and they dropped two bombs on his hiding place in an isolated house in the Baquba countryside north east of Baghdad the day before yesterday. They killed him along with a group of his followers amongst whom [was] his spiritual guide who it was mentioned led the Americans to him. The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki told of Al-Zarqawis killing in a press conference in the presence of the American ambassador in Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad and the American commander in Iraq General George Casey.
خَسِرَ ٱلْمُنْتَخَبَان ٱلسُّعُودِيّ وَٱلتُّونُسِيّ بِنَتِيجَةِ ٱلتَّعَادُل اَلَّتِي آلَ إِلَيهَا لِقَاء ٱلْفَرِيقَيْن أَمْس، لِتَتَقَلَّص فُرَصَهُمَا فِي ٱلتَّأَهُل، وَلَعِب «ٱلصُّقُور ٱلْخُضْر» وَ «نُسُور قَرْطَاج» بِأَعْصَاب جَمَاهِيرِهِمَا، حِينَ تَقَدَّمَ ٱلتَّوَانِسَة بِهَدَف زِيَاد اَلْجَزِيرِيّ، قَبْلَ أَنْ يَلْحَق بِهِم ٱلسُّعُودِيُّون عَن طَرِيق يَاسِر اَلْقَحْطَانِيّ، لِيَتَفَوَّق ٱلْمُنْتَخَب ٱلسُّعُودِيّ عَن طَرِيق قَائِدِهِ سَامِي اَلْجَابِر، اَلَّذِي أَضْحَى أَوَّل لاعِبٍ عَرَبِيٍّ يُحْرِزُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَهْدَاف فِي نِهَائِيَات كَأْس ٱلْعَالَم، إِلَّا أَنَّ ٱلْفَرْحَةَ ٱلسُّعُودِيَّة لَمْ تَسْتَمِرّ، لِتَنْتَقِل ٱلْفَرْحَة مِن ٱلْمُدَرَّجَات ٱلْخَضْرَاء إِلَى ٱلْمُدَرَّجَات ٱلْحَمْرَاء، حِينَ أَحْرَزَ رَاضِي اَلْجَعَايْدِيّ هَدَف ٱلتَّعَادُل ٱلتُّونُسِيّ فِي ٱللَّحَظَات ٱلْأَخِيرَة مِن ٱلْمُبَارَاة.
Both the Saudi and Tunisian teams lost as a result of the draw which the meeting of the two sides returned yesterday to decrease their chances of qualification. The Green Falcons and Carthage Eagles played with the nerves of their fans when the Tunisians went ahead with a goal from Ziyad Al-Jazeeri before the Saudis caught up with them by way of Yasir Al-Qahtani [only for] the Saudi team to go ahead by way of its captain Sami Al-Jabir who became the first Arabic player to score three goals in the World Cup finals. However the joy of the Saudis did not last as the joy was transferred from the green terraces/stands to the red terraces/stands when Radi Al-Jaaydi scored the Tunisian equaliser in the final moments of the match.

The Iranian consulate in the city of Basra was subject to an attack by hundreds of followers of an Iraqi Shiite Marji [=authority] in an incident which was the second of its kind in two days after a similar attack on the Iranian consulate in Karbala. The attackers were protesting against the broadcast by the Iranian satellite channel Al-Kawthar of an interview with the Lebanese Shiite man of religion Ali Al-Kurani in which he said that the Iraqi Shiite Marji Ayatollah Mahmoud Al-Hasani is not a religious authority and that Al-Hasani claims that he meets the awaited rightly-guided [mahdi] Imam and he has tea with him and that he is the husband of his sister as stated Sheikh Ahmad Al-Kaabi an official of Al-Hasanis press office.
لَعِبَ ٱلطَّقْس ٱلْمُمْطِر دَوْرَهُ لِيَتَعَرَّض ٱلْمُنْتَخَب ٱلسُّعُودِيّ لِخَسَارَةٍ ثَقِيلَة أَمَامَ نَظِيرِهِ ٱلْأُوكرَانِيّ أَمْس بِأَرْبَعَةِ أَهْدَاف مُقَابِلَ لَاشَيء فِي ٱلْجَوْلَةِ ٱلثَّانِيَة مِن مُنَافَسَات ٱلْمَجْمُوعَةِ ٱلثَّامِنَة بِٱلْمُونْدِيَال. وَفِيمَا اِعْتَبَرَ مُهَاجِم مُنْتَخَب ٱلسُّعُودِيَّة سَامِي اَلْجَابِر، أَنَّ لا عُذْر أَمَامَ ٱلْمُنْتَخَب لِيُقَدِّمُهُ بَعْدَ خَسَارَتِه. وَقَال حَوْلَ تَأْثِير ٱلطَّقْس ٱلْمُمْطِر «لَقَد تَدَرَّبنَا فِي أَجْوَاءٍ مُشَابِهَة»، أَشَارَ ٱلْمُدَافِع رِضَا تَكَر إِلَى «اَلْمَطَر وَٱلْاِنْزِلَاق اَللَّذَيْن أَثَّرَّا عَلَى أَدَاء ٱلْمُنْتَخَب ٱلسُّعُودِيّ، مِمَّا أَدَّى إِلَى أَخْطَاءٍ كَثِيرَة». مِن جِهَةٍ أُخْرَى خَسِرَ ٱلْمُنْتَخَب ٱلتُّونُسِيّ مُبَارَاتَهُ أَمَامَ إِسْبَانِيَا ثَلَاثَة وَاحِد، بَعْدَ أَنْ كَانَ مُتَقَدِّمًا بِهَدَفٍ فِي ٱلشَّوْط ٱلْأَوَّل.
The rainy weather played its role in the subjecting of the Saudi team to a heavy loss against its Ukranian counterpart yesterday by four goals to nil in the second round of competitions of group eight in the Mondial. And while the Saudi teams attacker Sami Al-Jabir considered that there was no excuse for the team that he could give after its loss and he said regarding the effect of the rainy weather we have trained in similar conditions [lit. atmospheres] the defender Rida Takar pointed to the rain and the slipping which affected the performance of the Saudi team which led to many mistakes. Elsewhere the Tunisian team lost its match against Spain three one after it was ahead by a goal in the first half.
كَانَ عَبْد ٱلْقَادِر أَحْمَد وَزَوْجَتُهُ وَأَطْفَالُه يَتَنَاوَلُونَ ٱلطَّعَام... وَفَجْأَةً دَوَّى ٱلْاِنْفِجَار. تَطَايَرَتْ ٱلصُّحُون، عَلَتْ صَرَخَات ٱلْأَطْفَال، وَصَمَتَتْ ٱلزَّوْجَة ٱلْحَامِل فَاطِمَة أَحْمَد (سَبْعٌ وَثَلَاثُون عَامًا) إِلَى ٱلْأَبَد، فِيمَا ٱخْتَلَطَتْ دِمَاؤُهَا بِٱلطَّعَام وَدِمَاء أَطْفَالِهَا ٱلثَّلَاثَة ٱلْجَرْحَى، فِي مَشْهَدٍ يَرْوِي تَفَاصِيل أَحْدَث جَرِيمَةٍ إِسْرَائِيلِيَّة تُرْتَكَب فِي حَقّ ٱلْمَدَنِيِّين ٱلْفِلَسْطِينِيِّين، مِن أَطْفَال وَنِسَاء. وَأَكَّدَ نَاطِقٌ عَسْكَرِيٌ إِسْرَائِيلِيّ أَنَّ طَائِرَةً حَرْبِيَّة اِسْتَهْدَفَتْ سَيَّارَةً مَدَنِيَّة تَقُلُّ عَدَدًا مِن مُطْلِقِي ٱلصَّوَارِيخ. لٰكِنَّ ٱلصَّارُوخ سَقَطَ فِي مَنْزِل عَائِلَةِ أَحْمَد ٱلْوَاقِع عَلَى طَرِيق صَلَاح ٱلدِّين ٱلرَّئِيسِي وَسَطَ بَلْدَةِ ٱلْقَرَارَة شَمَال خَان يُونِس.
Abdu ~l-Qadir Ahmad and his wife and his children were having something to eat... and suddenly the explosion rang out. The plates flew everywhere the screams of the children rang out and the pregnant wife Fatima Ahmad (thirty seven) fell silent forever while her blood mixed with the food and the blood of her three wounded children in a scene which tells the details of the latest Israeli crime perpetrated against Palestinian civilians from among children and women. An Israeli military spokesman confirmed that a military aircraft targeted a civilian car carrying a number of missile firers [i.e. people who fire missiles]. But the missile fell on the house of the Ahmad family lying on the main Salah ~D-Din road in the centre of the town of Qarara north of Khan Younis.
رِجَال ٱلْكُوَيت اَلَّذِينَ اِحْتَكَرُوا لِعُقُودٍ اِمْتِيَاز ٱلْمُشَارَكَةِ فِي ٱلْاِنْتِخَابَات، تَرْشِيحًا وَتَصْوِيتًا، اِفْتَقَدُوا أَضْوَاء ٱلْإِعْلَام هٰذِهِ ٱلْمَرَّة، فَكُلّ ٱلْكَامِيرَات وَمُعْظَم ٱلْاِهْتِمَام وَجُلّ ٱلْحَشَرِيَة اِنْصَبَّتْ عَلَى مَرَاكِز ٱلْاِقْتِرَاع ٱلنِّسَائِيّ اَلَّتِي أُقِيمَتْ فِي أَمَاكِن مُنْفَصِلَة عَن مَرَاكِز ٱلذُّكُور. جَوْلَةً عَلَى عَدَدٍ مِن ٱلْمَرَاكِز دَاخِل ٱلْعَاصِمَةِ وَخَارِجَهَا تُعْطِي مَشْهَدًا وَاحِدًا: اِزْدِحَام سَيَّارَات وَحَشْدٌ مِن ٱلْمُرَشَّحَات وَٱلْمُرَشَّحِين وَسَطَ غَابَةٍ مِن ٱلصُّوَر وَٱللَّافِتَات، حُضُورٌ أَمْنِيٌّ عَادِي، وَحَرَكَةُ عَامِلِين يُوَزِّعُون ٱلصُّوَر وَٱلْمُرَطِّبَات وَزُجَاجَات ٱلْمَاء وَٱلسَّنْدوِيتشَات. أَمَّا فِي ٱلدَّاخِل فَيَغْلِبُ ٱلْهُدُوء وَٱلنِّظَام تَحْتَ أَنْظَار ٱلْقُضَاة اَلَّذِينَ يُشْرِفُونَ عَلَى عَمَلِيَةِ ٱلْاِقْتِرَاع ٱلَّتِي لا تَسْتَغْرِق أَكْثَر مِن دَقِيقَتَيْن لِكُلّ نَاخِب.
The men of Kuwait who for decades monopolised the privilege of participation in elections [in terms of both] candidature and voting lost the media spotlight this time. As all the cameras and most of the interest and the majority of the crowds were directed towards the female polling stations which were set up in places separate from the mens stations. A tour to a number of stations inside the capital and outside it present one scene: [Traffic] jams of cars and crowds of female candidates and male candidates amid a forest of pictures and banners a customary security presence and the movement of workers distributing photographs and drinks and bottles of water and sandwiches. As for inside calm and order prevail under the eyes/gazes of the judges who supervise the voting operation which lasts no longer than two minutes for every voter.
قَرَار ٱلرَّئِيس ٱلْيَمَنِيّ عَلِيّ عَبْدُ ٱلله صَالِح هٰذَا ٱلْاُسْبُوع ٱلتَّرَشُّح لِفَتْرَةٍ رِئَاسِيَّةٍ جَدِيدَة تَمْتَدُّ سَبْع سَنَوَات، بَعْدَمَا كَانَ قَد أَعْلَن بَعْدَ ٱلْإِصْلَاحَات ٱلسِّيَاسِيَّة اَلَّتِي أَقَرَّهَا عَام أَلْفٌ وَتِسْعُمِئَة وَأَرْبَعَةٌ وَتِسْعُون أَنُّهُ لَنْ يَتَرَشَّح مَرَّةً ثَانِيَة، أَثَارَ رُدُود فِعْلٍ مُتَبَايِنَةٍ فِي ٱلْيَمَن. فَٱلرَّئِيس صَالِح اَلَّذِي وَصَلَ إِلَى ٱلسُّلْطَة فِي ٱلْيَمَن ٱلشَّمَالِيّ آنَذَاك عَام أَلْفٌ وَتِسْعُمِئَة وَثَمَانٌ وَسَبْعُون، وَتَبْقَى ٱلْوَحْدَةُ ٱلْيَمَنِيَّة أَهَمّ إِنْجَازٍ حَقَّقَهُ بَعْدَ دَمْج ٱلشَّطْرَيْن أَلْف وَتِسْعُمِئَةٍ وَتِسْعُون، شَرَحَ كَثِيرًا خِلالَ ٱلسَّنَوَات ٱلْقَلِيلَةِ ٱلْمَاضِيَة ٱلْمَصَاعِب ٱلْاِقْتِصَادِيَّة وَٱلسِّيَاسِيَّة وَٱلْأَمْنِيَّة اَلَّتِي تُعَانِيهَا بِلادُه.
The decision of the Yemeni leader Ali Abdu ~llah Salih this week to stand as a candidate for a new presidential term which extends for seven years after he had already announced following the political reforms which he established in the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety four [1994] that he will not stand as a candidate a second time caused mixed reactions in Yemen. Because President Salih who came to power in North Yemen as it was then in the year one thousand nine hundred and seventy eight [1978] and [for who] Yemeni unity remains the most important accomplishment he achieved after the merging of the two parts in one thousand nine hundred and ninety [1990] has explained many times during the last few years the economic and political and security difficulties which his country suffers from.
حُكِيَ وَٱللهُ أَعْلَم أَنَّهُ فِيمَا مَضَى مِن قَدِيم ٱلزَّمَان وَسَالِف ٱلْعَصْر وَٱلْأَوَان كَانَ لِمَلِكٍ مِن مُلُوك سَاسَان وَلَدَان أَحَدُهُمَا كَبِير وَٱلْآخَر صَغِير. وَكَانَّا فَارِسَيْن بَطَلَيْن، وَكَانَ ٱلْكَبِير أَفْرَس مِن ٱلصَّغِير، وَقَد مَلَكَ ٱلْبِلاد وَحَكَم بِٱلْعَدْل بَيْنَ ٱلْعِبَاد، اِسْمُه ٱلْمَلِك شَهْرِيَار، وَٱسْمُ أَخِيهِ ٱلصَّغِير شَاه زَمَان، وَكَانَ مَلِك سَمَرْقَنْد اَلْعَجَم.
It is related but God is all knowing that in what passed of olden times and a bygone day and age there were to a king of the kings of Sasan two sons. One of them was tall and the other small. And they were brave horsemen/leaders and the tall one was a better horseman/leader than the small one. And he had ruled the country and passed judgement with fairness among men. His name was King Shahriar and the name of his smaller brother was Shah Zaman and he was the king of Samarkand Al-Ajam.
طَالَبَتْ لَجْنَةُ حُقُوق ٱلْإِنْسَان فِي ٱلْبَرْلَمَان ٱلْمِصْرِيّ بِإِلْغَاء قَرَار وَزِير ٱلتَّرْبِيَةِ وَٱلتَّعْلِيم وَقْف طَالِبَةٍ فِي ٱلْمَرْحَلَةِ ٱلثَّانَوِيَّة عَن ٱلدِّرَاسَةِ عَامًا كَامِلًا، بِسَبَب اِنْتِقَادِهَا ٱلسِّيَاسَات ٱلْأَمِيرِكِيَة فِي ٱلْمِنْطَقَةِ ٱلْعَرَبِيَّة، خِلال إِجَابَتِهَا عَن سُؤَالٍ فِي ٱمْتِحَانَات نِهَايَةِ ٱلْعَام. وَأَعْرَبَتْ ٱللَّجْنَة عَن تَضَامُنِهَا مَعَ ٱلطَّالِبَة، رَافِضَةً إِنْزَال أَيّ عُقُوبَات عَلَيْهَا. وَدَعَتْ إِلَى تَعْوِيضِهَا عَمَّا «لَحِق بِهَا مِن أَذًى وَتَرْوِيع» وَإِعَادَةِ ٱلنَّظَر فِي دَرَجَاتِهَا.
The Committee of Human Rights in the Egyptian parliament called for the revoking of a decision by the Minister of Education to stop a [female] student in the secondary level from studying for a full year because of her criticism of American policies in the Arab region during her answer to a question in the end of year exams. And the Committee expressed its solidarity with the student dismissing the infliction of any penalties on her. And it called for her to be compensated for what had befallen her by way of harm and intimidation and a reconsideration of her grades.
أَمْضَى لُبْنَان أَمْس يَوْمًا طَوِيلًا دَامِيًّا بَعْدَمَا حَاصَرَتْهُ نَار ٱلْعُدْوَان ٱلْإِسْرَائِيلِيّ بَحْرًا وَجَوًّا وَعَزَلَتْهُ عَن ٱلْعَالَم مُرْتَكِبَةً سِلْسِلَةً مِن ٱلْمَجَازِر ٱلْجَوَّالَة. وَإِذَا كَانَ ٱلنَّهَار بَدَأَ بِقَصْفٍ إِسْرَائِيلِيّ لِمَدَارِج مَطَار رَفِيق اَلْحَرِيرِي فِي بَيْرُوت فَإِنَّهُ ٱنْتَهَى بِأَنْبَاءٍ عَن قَصْفٍ صَارُوخِيّ لِمَدِينَةِ حَيْفَا سَارَعَ «حِزْبُ ٱلله» إِلَى نَفْيِهَا. وَدَعَا ٱلْجَيْش ٱلْإِسْرَائِيلِيّ سُكَّان مَدِينَتَي حَيْفَا وَعَكَّا إِلَى مُلَازَمَةِ ٱلْمَلَاجِىء مَا ضَاعَفَ ٱلْمَخَاوِف مِن رَدٍّ إِسْرَائِيلِيٍّ قَاسٍ يُمْكِنُ أَنْ يَسْتَهَدِفَ بَيْرُوت.
Lebanon yesterday spent a long bloody day after the fire of Israeli aggression besieged it by sea and by air and isolated it from the world committing a series of roving massacres. And if the day started with an Israeli bombardment of the runways of Rafiq Al-Hariri airport in Beirut so it finished with the news of a missile bombardment on the city of Haifa which Hizbullah rushed to deny. The Israeli Army called upon the residents of the cities of Haifa and Acre to stay in shelters which compounded fears of a harsh Israeli response which may target Beirut.
أَصْدَرَتْ ٱلْإِمَارَات قَبْلَ أَيَّام، قَانُونًا جَدِيدًا يُلْزِمُ شَرِكَات ٱلْمُقَاوَلَات بِمَنْح فَتْرَةِ رَاحَة لِمُدَّةِ سَاعَتَيْن وَنِصْف ٱلسَّاعَة، اِبْتِدَاءً مِن ٱلسَّاعَة ٱلثَّانِيَةَ عَشْرَة وَٱلنِّصْف مِن بَعْدَ ٱلظُّهْر، وَحَتَّى ٱلثَّالِثَة مَسَاء، لِلْعُمَّال اَلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُون تَحْتَ أَشِعَّةِ ٱلشَّمْس ٱلْمُبَاشِرَة خِلال شَهْرَي يُولِيُو (تَمُّوز) وَأَغُسْطُس (آب) مِن كُلّ عَام، حَيْثُ تَتَجَاوَزُ دَرَجَات ٱلْحَرَارَة ٱلْخَمْسِين دَرَجَة فِي بَعْض ٱلْمَنَاطِق تَحْتَ أَشِعَّةِ ٱلشَّمْس ٱلْمُبَاشِرَة. وَيَأْتِي ٱلْقَرَار ٱلْإِمَارَاتِيّ فِي إِطَار سِيَاسَاتٍ عَامَّة تَتَّخِذُهَا حُكُومَات دُوَل ٱلْخَلِيج ٱلْعَرَبِيّ مِن أَجْلِ ضَمَان ظُرُوف عَمَل ٱلْعُمَّال ٱلْوَافِدِين، وَتَحْسِين هٰذِهِ ٱلظُّرُوف.
A few days ago the Emirates issued a new law which forces construction companies to grant a break for a period of two and a half hours starting from twelve thirty in the afternoon until three in the [late] afternoon to workers who work under the direct sun during the months of July (Tammuz) and August (Ab) of every year as the temperature passes fifty degrees in some areas under the direct sun. The Emirati decision comes within a framework of common policies which governments of Arabian Gulf States have adopted in order to guarantee the working conditions of visiting foreign workers and to improve these conditions.
ضَاعَفَ تَسْرِيع جَلَاء ٱلرَّعَايَا ٱلْأَجَانِب أَمْس مَخَاوِف ٱللُّبْنَانِيِين اَلَّذِينَ يَعِيشُونَ وَسَطَ مَشَاهِد ٱلرُّكَام وَأَنْبَاء ٱلْمَجَازِر فِي بِلادٍ مُقَطَّعَةِ ٱلْأَشْلَاء يُصِرُّ ٱلْعُدْوَان ٱلْإِسْرَائِيلِيّ عَلَى تَعْمِيق ٱلنَّكْبَة اَلَّتِي أَنْزَلَهَا بِهَا. وَفِيمَا وَاصَلَتْ ٱلطَّائِرَات ٱلْإِسْرَائِيلِيَّة مُطَارَدَةَ ٱلْبَشَر وَٱلْحَجَر مَعًا، قَصَفَتْ صَوَارِيخ «حِزْب ٱلله» أَهْدَافًا فِي ٱلْعُمْق ٱلْإِسْرَائِيلِيّ وَشَهِدَتْ بَعْض ٱلنِّقَاط ٱلْحُدُودِيَة اِشْتِبَاكَاتٍ بَرِّيَة أَوْقَعَتْ قَتْلَى وَجَرْحَى. وَوَسَط حَمَّام ٱلدَّم ٱلْمُتَفَاقِم وَتَخَطِّي ٱلْحَرْب كُلّ حُدُود، مُعَمِّقَةً ٱلْكَارِثَةَ ٱلْإِنْسَانِيَّة بِكُلّ أَبْعَادِهَا، اِتَّجَهَتْ أَنْظَار ٱلْلُبْنَانِيِين إِلَى فَرَنْسَا وَٱلْمُحَادَثَات اَلَّتِي أَجْرَاهَا وَلِيّ ٱلْعَهْد ٱلسُّعُودِيّ وَزِير ٱلدِّفَاع وَٱلطَّيَرَان ٱلْأَمِير سُلْطَان بِن عَبْد ٱلعَزِيز مَعَ ٱلرَّئِيس جَاك شِيرَاك وَرَئِيس ٱلْوُزَرَاء دُومِينِيك دُوفِيلْبَان بَعْدَ دَعْوَةِ ٱلرَّئِيس ٱلْفَرَنْسِيّ إِلَى إِيْجَاد «مَمَرَّاتٍ إِنْسَانِيَّة» لِتَخْفِيف مُعَانَاة ٱلْلُبْنَانِيِين.
The acceleration in the evacuation of foreign nationals yesterday compounded the fears of the Lebanese who are living amid scenes of rubble and news of carnage in a country torn to pieces on which Israeli aggression persists in deepening the catastrophe which it has inflicted. And while Israeli planes continued to pursue men and stones alike [i.e. everything] Hizbullahs missiles bore down on targets in the Israeli depths. And some border locations saw land engagements which left dead and injured. And amid the increasingly dangerous blood bath and the wars overstepping of all boundaries deepening the humanitarian disaster in all dimensions the gaze of the Lebanese turned towards France and the talks which the Saudi heir apparent and Minister of Defence and Aviation Prince Sultan Bin Abdu ~l-Aziz conducted with President Jacques Chirac and the Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin after the call of the French President to create humanitarian corridors to ease the suffering of the Lebanese.
يَكْشِفُ ٱلشَّيْخ أَبُو ٱلعَيْنَين شُعَيْشَع نَقِيب قُرَّاء ٱلْقُرْآن فِي مِصْر، صَفَحَاتٍ مَجْهُولَة وَشَيِّقَةٍ فِي مَسِيرَةِ شُيُوخ قُرَّاء ٱلْقُرْآن ٱلْقُدَامَى ٱلْمِصْرِيِّين، وَكَيْفَ جَمَعُوا بَيْنَ حَلَاوَةِ ٱلصَّوْت وَٱلْأَدَاء، وَبَيْنَ ٱلتَّفَقُّه فِي أُمُور ٱلدِّين وَٱلْأَدَب، وَإِيْقَاعَات ٱلْمُوسِيقَى وَمَقَامَاتِهَا، فَكَانَتْ قِرَاءَاتُهُم تَخْرُجُ مِن ٱلْأَعْمَاق وَتَصِلُ إِلَى قُلُوب ٱلْمُسْتَمِعِين بِعُذُوبَةٍ وَحُبّ. وَيَرَى ٱلشَّيْخ شُعَيْشَع عُضْو لَجْنَةِ اِخْتِبَار ٱلْقُرَّاء بِٱلْإِذَاعَةِ وَٱلتِّلِفِزْيُون، فِي حِوَارِهِ مَعَ «اَلشَّرْق ٱلأَوْسَط» فِي ٱلْقَاهِرَة، أَنَّ ٱلْقُرَّاء ٱلْقُدَامَى لَنْ يُعَوَّضُوا وَلَنْ يَجُودَ ٱلزَّمَان بِمِثْلِهِم.
Sheikh Abu ~l-Ainain Shu aisha Head of the reciters of the Quran in Egypt has revealed unknown and interesting pages in the [life] journey of the old Egyptian venerable reciters of the Quran and how they combined sweetness of voice and performance and a deep understanding of matters of religion and literature and the beats of the music and its modes for their recitations would come from deep down and reach the hearts of the listeners with sweetness and love. Sheikh Shu aisha a member of the committee for the examination of reciters on radio and television gave the opinion in his interview with Asharq Alawsat in Cairo that the old reciters will not be replaced and time will not be so kind as to bring the likes of them again.
سَمِعت صُرَاخ أَخَوَاتِي اَللَّوَاتِي ٱسْتَيْقَظنَ مِن ٱلنَّوْم... هَرَعت إِلَى ٱلشُّرْفَة وَٱصْطَدَمت بِأُمِّي اَلَّتِي صَرَخَتْ مِن ٱلْهَلَع تُطَالِبُنِي بِٱلدُّخُول إِلَى ٱلْمَنْزِل... وَالِدِي اَلَّذِي بَدَا عَلَيْهِ ٱلْقَلَق... أَسْرَعَ لِيُدِير ٱلتِّلِفِزْيُون عَلَى أَمَل أَنْ يَعْرِفَ مَاذَا يَحْصُل... بِضْعُ دَقَائِق وَأُعْلِن أَنَّ ٱلطَّيَرَان ٱلْإِسْرَائِيلِيّ ضَرَبَ مَطَار بَيْرُوت... وَجِسْر هَادِي نَصْر ٱلله... قَرَرنَا ٱلْهَرَب مِن ٱلْمَنْزِل. عَرَفنَا أَنَّ إِسْرَائِيل بَدَأَتْ تَضْرِب ٱلْمِنْطَقَة حَيْثُ نَقْطُن لأَنَّ فِيهَا مَرَاكِز حِزْب ٱلله... اِتَّصَلنَا بِبَعْض ٱلْأَصْدِقَاء فَنَصَحُونَا بِعَدَم ٱلْخُرُوج. تَرَدَّدنَا ثُمَّ آثَرنَا ٱلْبَقَاء. وَأَمْضَينَا لَيْلَةً مَشْدُودِي ٱلْأَعْصَاب خَوْفًا مِن أَيِّ ضَرْبَةٍ قَرِيبَة.
I heard the screaming of my sisters who had woken from sleep... I hurried to the balcony and collided with my mother who screamed in panic calling for me to get inside the house... My father who looked worried rushed to turn on the television in the hope of finding out what was happening... A few minutes later and it was announced that the Israeli airforce had hit Beirut Airport... and Hadi Nasrallah bridge... We decided to flee from the house. We discovered that Israel had started to hit the area where we live because in it there are Hizbullah positions... We contacted some friends and they advised us not to go out. We wavered then we deemed it wiser to stay. And we spent a tense night fearful of any nearby strike.
